The Sea Wolf offers to help Gwai catch fish, but in exchange Gwai must build a totem for him. Gwai agrees and the Sea Wolf helps him bring back a huge net filled with fish, but Gwai takes credit for the catch himself and forgets to build the totem. Only after the Sea Wolf takes back the fish does Gwai honour his part of the bargain. The totem is so fine that the Sea Wolf forgives Gwai for his deceit.
